Tiger Tees Wins 2012 Hall Mark Stakes – Headed to Stradbroke

Joseph Pride-trained gelding Tiger Tees has produced a stunning run to take victory in the $100,000 Listed 2012 Hall Mark Stakes at Royal Randwick today.

The talented four-year-old jumped to an early lead and that is where he stayed, just edging out Pinwheel and Neeson by a bob of the head at the finish.

It takes the Dubawai gelding’s successful early career record to seven wins from 10 starts and he will now head to the Brisbane Winter Carnival where Pride has said his connections would like to tackle the $1 million Stradbroke Handicap.

“He’s going to head north to Brisbane,” Pride said.

“The owners just told me today they’ve backed him for me to win the Stradbroke. So it’s just become the Stradbroke hasn’t it.”

It was a first and third finish for Pride who also trains five-year-old Neeson.

Pride confirmed the Mossman gelding would also feature in the Brisbane Winter Carnival and will contest the Doomben 10,000.

“He’ll go up there…on to the 10,000. He’s very much on track for that,” Pride said.

It was the first and only race of the Sydney Autumn carnival for Tiger Tees who had been scratched on numerous occasions due to wet weather.

He showed today he can run when the conditions suit and he looks set to build on his already impressive resume when he makes the step up to Group level.

Runner-up Pinwheel produced an excellent finish but fell just short of adding to his 10 career victories.
