Wonder mare Black Caviar looks almost certain to post a 20th straight win and become outright Australasian record holder for consecutive victories when she turns out in tomorrow’s 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphetville Racecourse.
Currently paying $1.04 at bookmaker.com.au, the champion sprinter will overtake both Desert Gold and Gloaming if she can win tomorrow’s 1200 metre sprint otherwise known as the Sportingbet Classic.
The Bel Esprit five-year-old travelled from her Caulfield base to Adelaide on Wednesday and trainer Peter Moody said she is ready to shine no matter what weather is dished up in the South Australian capital.
“I don’t think anyone wants to see a great race day spoilt by weather but she’s a filly that’s handled soft ground,” Moody said.
There are showers predicted for Adelaide today but Moody should get his wish with the weather expected to clear up by tomorrow.
Approximately 30,000 people will pack into Morphetville Racecourse to see the greatest show in racing grace Adelaide with her presence for the first time.
Jockey Luke Nolen will be in the superstar’s saddle as he has been for 16 of her 19 starts and the leading rider has described her as “equine perfection.”
No other horse has been given a chance by the bookmakers, with 2011 Goodwood Handicap winner Lone Rock the next best in the betting at $17.00.
