The 2012 All Aged Stakes is one of the drawcards of tomorrow’s bumper day of racing at Royal Randwick with superstar filly Atlantic Jewel taking on small field of older rivals.

Atlantic Jewel

Atlantic Jewel is a short-priced favourite to win the All Aged Stakes

It will the three-year-olds first effort against the males but she is still the obvious odds-on favourite at bookmaker.com.au after returning from injury to win by a dominant four lengths in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes.

Her talent has scared off many opponents and just six rivals will line up to face her in the $400,000 event that will jump as the fifth on the Randwick card.

Think you’ve got the winner picked? You probably do as Atlantic Jewel has proved to be something special but keep reading to see our the justification for our place tips as well as our rough selection for the Sydney feature.

The Winner

#7 Atlantic Jewel ($1.22)

The Mark Kavanagh-trained horse is at almost Black Caviar odds for tomorrow’s race and for good reason.

Unbeaten from six starts, the Fastnet Rock filly has proven she is a special talent with some pundits in the racing world already talking about a reign similar to that of champion sprinter Black Caviar.

She showed there were no hangovers from her minor injury in her dominant Sapphire Stakes win and should produce a quick run from the inside barrier on a dry Randwick track.

The Placing

#3 Rain Affair ($6.00)

With just seven horses in the race there is just one place position up for grabs and it is hard to look past the Sydney gelding who always produces a gutsy effort.

The four-year-old has 11 wins from 14 starts and should push Atlantic Jewel hard from the start as he likes to get out and and take the early lead.

He is yet to win at Group 1 level and while that looks unlikely of happening this weekend he showed enough with a tight TJ Smith Stakes second to suggest he can beat highly successful seven-year-old King Mufhasa for runner-up.

The Roughie

#6 Ofcourseican ($31.00)

If something happens to Atlantic Jewel the five-year-old mare has the ability to run a fast race and showed her talent with a maiden Group 1 win in the Coolmore Classic earlier this year.

Trainer Ron Quinton has prepared the daughter of the Mossman for the race so she should be well prepared to give her best effort come business time tomorrow.

All prices are fixed-odds win, subject to change and provided by bookmaker.com.au.
