Tight Market for 2012 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes

Betting is now open for the 2012 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes for what is the feature race at Adelaide’s Morphetville Racecourse tomorrow.

The $115,000 Group 3 event will test the best South Australian two-year-old horses as well as some travellers over 1200 metres and it is currently difficult to separate the top three in the bookmaker.com.au market.

In-form Anthony Freedman colt Chosen Moment currently holds slight favouritism ($3.40) ahead of the unsplittable Road Trippin and Big Chill who are both paying $3.70.

After a less than ideal debut in slow conditions last year, Chosen Moment started 2012 with a bang when winning the Southern Cross Ten Handicap at Bendigo by 2.5 lengths and then went on to run second in the Alternate Rail Handicap at Moonee Valley.

Artie Schiller filly Big Chill also comes in to the race with form on the board and will be chasing a third straight victory after winning at Sale first-up before dominating the field by more than a length in the Group 3 Marsh Breeders’ Stakes.

Road Trippin was sixth on that day in the Marsh Breeders’ Stakes but he is a far better horse than that, having previously run third in the Group 2 Sires produce Stakes at Flemington and second in the Inglis Premier at Mornington.

There is a large gap in the market behind the top three with Kane Harris-trained colt Just Forget It paying $9.50 in what will be the son of Encosta De Lago’debut race.

How Swede It Is provides excellent value for the punters ($15.00) after showing some terrific form in his most recent outings.

The Magnus colt finished runner-up in a similar calibre field to this weekend in the St Albans Stakes at Moonee Valley and then went on to win by more than a length in the Brooklands Plate at Mornington earlier this month.

A total of 11 runners will line up in the 2012 Sires’ Produce Stakes which will jump as the fourth race at 1:55pm (local Adelaide time).
