Talented two-year-old Driefontein will start as odds-on favourite as she attempts to finish her autumn campaign on a high in the Listed 2012 Keith Mackay Quality at Royal Randwick Racecourse this Saturday.
Currently paying $1.95, the Gai Waterhouse filly is by far the most successful runner in the 10-horse field with four wins from five starts.
The Fastnet Rock filly won the Group 2 BJ McLachlan Stakes at Doomben in December before winning the lucrative Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast in January.
She won again in the the lead up to her Golden Slipper sixth placing in the Widden Stakes and jockey Tommy Berry is confident she can return to her winning ways this weekend.
“She’ll definitely be the best horse in the race on Saturday and whether she’s had enough or not, we’ll find out,” Berry said.
The Fastnet Rock filly comes up against nine other fillies in the $100,000 race with Agueda ($4.80)
the next best in the betting.
Trained by Anthony Cummings, the General Nediym filly has shown plenty of potential in her young career, winning once and placing four times from six starts.
She has been in good form recently in quality races, finishing fourth in the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes before running second to Dances On Starts in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes last weekend.
Following the top two in the bookmaker.com.au
market is Peter Snowden
($7.50) who is fresh off a third-place effort to Samaready in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes.
Last start winning New Zealand filly Single Style ($8.50) and debut winner Medusa’s Miss ($12.00) provide a bit more value for the punters in what is the second of nine races at Randwick this Saturday.
How many horses actually line up in the final field on Saturday is still unknown, with an expected wet track likely to cause some race day scratchings.
All the Randwick markets are now open for this weekend, so head to bookmaker.com.au to back a winner.
With a sensational $300 bonus bet offer
for new customers and great value odds, it is little wonder the Australian owned bookie is the Races.com.au favourite.
