Wet Track to Aid Temple Of Boom in 2012 Galaxy

Temple Of Boom trainer Tony Gollan will finally get the wet track he has been searching for when the five-year-old turns out in the Group 1 2012 Galaxy at Royal Randwick Racecourse this Saturday.

The gelding has struggled thus far in 2012, finishing a best of sixth after showing plenty of promise at the back end of last year when he won twice at Group level.

Last seen running eighth past the post on a good track at Rosehill, Gollan believes this weekend’s projected wet conditions will suit Temple Of Boom in the 1100 metre sprint.

“I wasn’t disappointed with his run and he only got beaten four lengths in the Sebring,” Gollan said.

“He had a big weight with 58 kilos last time and he’ll appreciate Randwick better on a wet track.

“If he finds his best form he’ll be very competitive in the Galaxy.”

The track was this morning rated a heavy 8 and it is only expected to get worse with wet weather predicted for the rest of the week in the harbour city.

Temple Of Boom will carry one less kilogram than he did in the Sebring (57kg) and will be ridden by boom New Zealand jockey James McDonald.

Running from barrier nine should prove just about ideal to keep him out of trouble in wet conditions when he comes up against a quality field of 13 other sprinters.

Included in the field is highly rated Victorian gelding Bel Sprinter who will be looking to improve on a Challenge Stakes fourth which was his first race since being scratched from the Newmarket with injury.

Also included is Gai Waterhouse three-year-old Nobby Snip who will be out to continue a sizzling run of form that has seen him record three straight victories.

Other horses set to run in the 2012 Galaxy include 2011 runner-up Thankgodyou’rehere, Gerald Ryan-trained Hot Snitzel, Sebring Stakes winner Zaratone and topweight Mic Mac.

The market will open shortly for the 2012 Galaxy and the best value prices can be found at the Australian owned bookmaker.com.au.
