Full Field Named for 2012 Galaxy

The $350,000 Group 1 2012 Galaxy (1100m) stands as one of the feature races on an exciting Randwick card this weekend and a full allotment of 14 horses plus two emergencies were today named in the final field.

Thankgodyou'rehere

Last year's runner-up Thankgodyou'rehere will look to go one better in the 2012 The Galaxy on Saturday

Last year’s runner-up Thankgodyou’rehere will be looking to go one better in 2012 and has received a favourable barrier 10 position which should keep the gelding out of trouble in what is expected to be a soaking wet track.

Trained by Patrick and Wayne Webster, the six-year-old is returning from a spell but is a proven first-up runner, having won twice and finished second on another two occasions from five first-up efforts.

Last seen running second to Woorm in the Group 3 Tab.com.au Stakes last October, he has six wins from 20 starts which will see him carry 57kg into Saturday’s race.

One horse that will go into the race with a weight advantage is in-form three-year-old Nobby Snip who will carry the minimum of 52kg.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained gelding is chasing a fourth consecutive victory and his first at Group level after impressing in lower level races so far in 2012.

Aptly named Bel Sprinter will be out to improve on his fourth-place effort to Rain Affair in the Challenge Stakes in late March.

The four-year-old was rated among the top chances for the prestigious Newmarket Handicap earlier this year but was withdrawn following an injury to his hind leg.

The son of Bel Espirit is yet to live up to his much-hyped potential but has a great opportunity to do so when he comes from barrier five with Dwayne Dunn aboard.

Joseph Pride gelding Title is fresh off a victory in the Maurice McCarten Stakes and the five-year-old has an excellent opportunity to continue his run of form when he bolts out of barrier six on Saturday.

Other horses set to line up on a soggy Randwick track this weekend are Sebring Stakes winner Zaratone, Gerald Ryan-trained gelding Hot Snitzel, wet-track performer Elite Falls and topweight Mic Mac.

With plenty of rain about, some surprise results and value for the punters could be up for grabs so head to bookmaker.com.au as the Galaxy betting market will open shortly.
