Pierro Continues Winning Streak in 2012 Sires Produce Stakes

Unbeaten colt Pierro has silenced his critics by beating Black Caviar half brother All Too Hard in the 2012 Sires Produce Stakes at Royal Randwick today.

Golden Slipper winner Pierro takes out the 2012 Sires Produce Stakes

Fresh off a win in the Golden Slipper, the colt cemented his position as the undisputed best two-year-old in the country by comfortably winning today’s $500,000 Group 1 event.

All the money came hard and fast for All Too Hard heading into the race but the much-hyped colt missed the start and never really looked in with a winning chance.

It was yet another victory for the Gai Waterhouse-Nash Rawiller combination and Rawiller again produced a stellar ride on the young star.

Rawiller was happy to sit back and trail early race leader Raceway before allowing the colt to accelerate at the final bend.

From there, with All Too Hard to far back to challenge, it was all too easy for Pierro who is now undefeated from five races.

First lady of racing Gai Waterhouse said the colt had beaten all comers and the critics must now surely be silenced.

“Outstanding colt. We’ve said from day one, now what else has he got to do,” Waterhouse said.

“He wins every race he’s gone in, he wins every major and they’re still questioning.”

Rawiller said he was happy to forget about All Too Hard and concentrate on his own race and the tactic paid off.

“I thought he was exceptional today…I wasn’t a hundred percent certain where All Too Hard was but I wasn’t really concerned, I just wanted to concentrate on my bloke,” he said.

“Straight into the jump we were comfortable, he just did everything I asked from him, he’s such an exciting horse.

“If he’s not brilliant I don’t know what is, he’s a bloody a serious horse this bloke.”

The win is the second for the Waterhouse-Rawiller combination today and comes five years after Rawiller first rode for Waterhouse on Derby Day in 2007.

There is still plenty of racing action at Randwick today including the Australian Derby.

The best odds on all the action can be found at bookmaker.com.au who are currently offering a $300 bonus bet to new customers!
