Fat Al Posts 2012 Carbine Club Stakes Victory – Race Results

Fat Al has proved that he deserves his place amongst the best after winning the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes at Royal Randwick racecourse today April 14, 2012.

The Al Maher gelding won the race in dominant style ahead of second place runner Need To Know and third place-getter Galah.

Fat Al was paying odds of $2.30 to win the 2012 Carbine Club Stakes at bookmaker.com.au.

The win sparked jubilation from the may owners of Fat Al, who purchased the horse for just $27,000 at the 2010 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse was over the moon with Al Maher’s 2012 Carbine Club Stakes win.

“He’s a very good horse this,” Waterhouse said.

“He toyed with them.

“I love the way he cruised to the lead and won effortlessly.

“Ever since he’s come back… every time he keeps improving.”

Waterhouse feels that Fat Al could be successful at “any level” of Group racing and plans to take the gelding to Brisbane for the Winter carnival later this year.

“I think he just paid his fare,” she said.

Jockey Nash Rawiller was aboard Fat Al for today’s 2012 Carbine Club Stakes win.

“He’s never been brilliant out of the gates,” Rawiller said.

“He travelled beautifully.

“It worked out perfectly.

“Full credit to Gai. She’s given all these horses time and they’re lightly raced.”

Fat Al has now won four of his six race starts and has earned more than $140,000 in prize money.
