Australian Derby Day 2012 – Randwick Scratchings

The much awaited 2012 Australian Derby Day is finally here, which will see a bumper nine-race card take place at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse.

Highlighting the day is of course the Australian Derby that will see a high class group of three-year-old horses battle it out over 2400 metres.

Many were predicting a one-two New Zealand finish in the derby with Silent Achiever and Ocean Park but third favourite Ocean Park has this morning been scratched from the Group 1 event.

With the track rated a Good 3, he is one of the few scratchings across the entire day and there are plenty of big names drawing people to the track today.

The Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes will see superstar colt All Too Hard go head-to-head with Golden Slipper winner Pierro in a clash that has the whole racing community talking.

In the other Group 1 race of the day, the 2012 TJ Smith Stakes, it seems to be a one-on-one match up between Sydney star Rain Affair and colt Foxwedge who is fresh off a win over Hay List in the William Reid Stakes.

With all the action not too far away, be sure to head to bookmaker.com.au to place your bets!
