Luke’s Luck Heads 2012 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes Field

Karrakatta Plate winner Luke’s Luck will come up against the best juveniles the west can deliver this Saturday in the $200,000 Group 3 2012 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Ascot Racecourse.

Trained by Trevor Andrews, the colt will come up against host of competitors that he defeated in the Group 2 Karrakatta on March 31.

He will run from barrier eight on Saturday which is one gate inside Karrakatta runner-up Keeper Quiet.

The Clint Harvey-trained filly has shown plenty of promise in her three starts recording one victory and two runner-up finishes.

All the Karrakatta place-getters will again line up on Saturday including Miss Solis who has arguably the best record of any of the 11 horses today named in the final field.

The filly boasts a record of three wins from five starts with her worst ever finish the Karrakatta third placing.

Prior to that she won the Listed Supremacy Stakes ahead of Luke’s Luck by a length before finishing second to Darlington Abbey in the Gimcrack Stakes.

Another horse who would be known to anyone who has followed racing in the west recently is Fuddle Dee Duddle who has also been in good form.

The filly is coming off a win in the Westspeed Nursery Handicap at Ascot which was preceded by a fourth-place effort in the Karrakatta and a third in the Gimcrack Stakes.

She is one of the more experienced horses in the race, having scored victory three times from seven starts.

Other horses set to line up in this weekend’s WA Sires’ Produce Stakes include Joe Miller-trained gelding Wombie’s Legacy and Virtual Trader who will be stepping up after winning on debut at Bunbury on March 28.
