Race 2 Results – 2012 Sebring Stakes Winner Is Zaratone

Zaratone has produced an all the way victory in the Group 3 Sebring Stakes at Rosehill Racecourse today April 7, 2012.

The Zariz gelding won the race ahead of Winter King, who finished second, and Master Of Design, who held on for third.

Zaratone is the 2012 Sebring Stakes winner at Rosehill

Zaratone was third-up in today’s 2012 Sebring Stakes, after finishing third by less than half a length in the Listed Maurice McCarten Stakes last start.

Trainer Nick Olive was full of praise for Zaratone after the race.

“He’s a fantastic horse this horse,” Olive said.

“He’s probably capable of winning any race if the run works out for him.”

Olive was also complimentary of the ride from jockey Kathy O’Hara, who steered Zaratone to the front and gave him a lead that no other horse could catch.

“She rode him perfect,” he said.

The trainer is yet to map out the remainder of Zaratone’s autumn carnival campaign.

“I don’t even know. I’ll go and have a look,” Olive said.

O’Hara was also thrilled with Zaratone’s 2012 Sebring Stakes win.

“He’s a speed horse and he liked to be ridden that way (in front),” O’Hara said.

“When he gets a little break on them he’s really tough and hard to run down.”

Zaratone has won 15 of his 36 race starts and has earned more than $340,000 in prize money.
