Paul Messara-trained colt Rekindled Alliance will be out to post a first ever group win when he lines up as favourite in the Group 2 2012 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill this Saturday.
A Son of Redoute’s Choice, Rekindled Alliance is currently paying $3.10 at bookmaker.com.au ahead of Gai Waterhouse-trained horse Strawberry Boy ($3.80).
Rekindled Alliance has been building nicely in 2012, running fourth and sixth in consecutive Group 2 races before just being beaten at the line to finish second in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes.
Unbeaten gelding Strawberry Boy faces a step up in class but has proved impressive in two career starts, winning on debut in Newcastle by four lengths before again dominating in his second start at Hawkesbury by four-and-a-half lengths.
With many races at Rosehill this weekend containing short-priced favourites, the Tulloch Stakes provides interest and value for the punters with a far more open market.
Another horse stepping up on Saturday is New Zealand gelding Iggi Pop ($8.50), who is coming off two straight victories in lower level races.
Darci Be Good ($8.50) will appreciate a drop down in class after running mid-field in the tough Randwick and Rosehill Guineas events.
He showed promise in the Randwick Guineas by finishing sixth but was unable to improve on that start and ran tenth in the Rosehill Guineas last weekend.
Value is provided with Group 1 winner Benfica ($12.00) who has an opportunity to turn around some poor recent form after finishing a best of seventh from three starts this year.
A cluttering of horses fall between $12.00 and $20.00 with Specter ($15.00), Compass ($18.00) and Polish Knight ($18.00).
The Tulloch Stakes will run as the fourth race on a bumper Rosehill card this weekend that includes the Golden Slipper and the prestigious BMW for stayers.
All the markets for Rosehill are now open at bookmaker.com.au and the Australian owned bookmaker is known for their great value odds.
