Pinwheel Returns in 2012 Sebring Stakes

Peter Snowden-trained gelding Pinwheel makes his return this weekend in the Group 3 2012 Sebring Stakes (1100m) following a spell after a disappointing spring campaign.

The $125,000 event will run as the second race on an all-group Rosehill card and a full field of 14 horses were today named in the final field.

A son of Lohnro, Pinwheel has had a successful career that has included 10 wins from 28 starts including the Group 2 Warwick Stakes.

Also returning from a spell is Paul Messara-trained gelding Mic Mac who has not raced since October 2010.

The six-year-year old has an impressive record of seven wins from 18 starts and came close to a maiden Group 1 victory when running third in the 2010 Stradbroke Handicap.

Five-year-old gelding Temple Of Boom should appreciate a drop down in class after failing to succeed in two efforts at Group 1 level this year.

He finished sixth in the Lightning Stakes to Black Caviar before running tenth in the prestigious Newmarket Handicap on March 10.

The Tony Gollan-trained horse will have to overcome a barrier 11 draw but has experienced jockey Hugh Bowman on top to help him do it.

Another horse who should appreciate dropping down a level is Master Of Design who ran ninth in the Oakleigh Plate and was completely outclassed when running 20th in the Newmarket Handicap.

New Zealand gelding Tiger Tees is having his first run at Group level this Saturday after proving highly successfuly in lesser events.

After finishing runner-up in his first ever start, the Joseph Pride-trained horse won five straight races and has a career record of six wins from nine starts.

Also named in the 2012 Sebring Stakes field is fellow Pride-trained horse News Alert and Winter King who will be looking to bounce back from a last-place finish in the Challenge Stakes last weekend.
