Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2012 Tulloch Stakes serves as an important support race on all group nine-race card as part of Golden Slipper Day at Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
Run over 2000 metres, the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes will see 12 horses line up to compete for a prize pool worth $175,000.
One of the top horses named in the final field is promising New Zealand colt Darci Be Good, who will appreciate a drop down in class after finishing mid-field in his last two starts.
The Bede Murray-trained horse showed promise when finishing sixth in the Randwick Guineas on March 17 but was unable to improve when stepping up to 2000 metres and ran eighth in the Rosehill Guineas last weekend.
He gets another chance at the distance this weekend against a field of three-year-old colts and geldings that includes the Peter Snowden-trained Benfica.
A winner at Group 1 level in the TJ Smith at Eagle Farm last year, the Lohnro colt has an excellent opportunity to turn around his horrible recent form after drawing the plum barrier five position.
He has not shown any of the form that saw him win three of his first five races, finishing ninth, ninth and seventh in three starts this year.
Two horses coming into the race in sizzling form are Gai Waterhouse-trained gelding Satirical Boy and New Zealand horse Iggi Pop.
Both are coming off two straight wins and Iggi Pop in particular has received plenty of hype in his young career.
Trained by John O’Shea, the gelding has had just three career starts but has proved successful by more than a length on two occasions.
Satirical Boy is one of three Waterhouse horses included in the field with the others being Compass and the unbeaten Strawberry Boy.
