Ten horses will line up in this Saturday’s feature Group 1 2012 BMW (2400m) at Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens Racecourse including 2012 Melbourne Cup runner Americain and French star Manighar.
Of the 10 horses today named to contest the prestigious stayer’s race, eight come from overseas.
Americain has a chance to avenge his defeat in the Australian Cup (2000m) where he finished third behind Manighar and fellow BMW starter Southern Speed.
The seven-year-old American horse will benefit from the extra distance provided by the BMW after looking promising at the back end of the Australian Cup.
He will start as favourite at Races.com.au preferred bookmaker bookmaker.com.au but will face a tough test from Manighar who is chasing a third straight victory.

Leading trainer Peter Moody has been targeting the French gelding for the race all year and he will again be the beneficiary of the riding expertise of Luke Nolen who is expected to today be confirmed as the rider.
After finishing second in the Australian Cup and fifth in the Ranvet, Southern Image mare Southern Speed will be out to get one back on Manighar this weekend.
She represents the best of the local hopes with experienced gelding Niwot the other Australian runner named in the field.
There will a strong New Zealand prescence in what will run as the fifth race at Rosehill this Saturday with Precedence, Fiumicino and Efficient all confirmed as starters.
The barrier draw will be announced shortly after 12pm today.
