Pinjarra Cup 2012 – Final Field and Preview

The big weekend of racing in the nation’s west continues tomorrow where the attention turns to the 2012 Pinjarra Cup.

The $100,000 Listed event will test the best country runners in Western Australia over the stayer’s distance of 2300 metres.

Coming off a storming two-and-a-half-length win in the Bunbury Cup, Grant Williams-trained gelding Lords Ransom will start as the top weight in the event.

The experienced eight-year-old is a seasoned cup performer and will be looking to again perform a Bunbury-Pinjarra double after doing so in 2008.

A winner of 10 races from 26 starts, Lords Ransom has had a highly successful career in Western Australia that includes winning the 2012 Group 2 Perth Cup.

He is likely to face most trouble from another Grant Williams trained horse, Battle Emblem, who will be looking to go back to back after winning last year’s race by more than a length.

Bunbury Cup runner-up Big Ted will be out to exact revenge on Lords Ransom but has a difficult task ahead after drawing the second widest barrier of the field (9).

Also a chance of challenging for top honours tomorrow is Justin Warwick-trained mare Rosie Rocket.

The five-year-old finished fourth in the Bunbury Cup on March 15 and has nine career wins from 24 starts.

The Pinjarra Cup will run as the eighth race on an nine-race card tomorrow in Pinjarra and is set to jump at 4:35pm local (WA) time.
