Dubai World Cup 2012 – Preview and Betting Update

The richest horse race in the world is taking place in Dubai tonight with the 2012 Dubai World Cup.

A creation of Ruler of Dubai Shiekh Mohammed, the Dubai World Cup is run over 2000 metres and has $10 million in prize money up for grabs.

So You Think

So You Think is the favourite in Dubai World Cup betting

The current favourite for the event is So You Think ($3.30) who has been hammered in the fixed odds market at bookmaker.com.au.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the five-year-old has shortened from $4.00 after earlier this week receiving a plum barrier four draw.

So You Think is a two-time Cox Plate winner and has proved exceptional over the 2000 metre distance both in Australian and overseas.

Both Cox Plate victories came over 2040 metres when he was trained by Australian legend Bart Cummings and since coming under control of O’Brien he has scored victory four times from seven starts at the distance.

Next back in the bookmaker.com.au betting market is Japanese seven-year-old Smart Falcon ($6.50) and American horse Game On Dude who became the sentimental favourite earlier this week when trainer Bob Baffert suffered a heart attack shortly after touching down in Dubai.

So You Think is not the only horse running in Dubai that would be familiar to Australian punters with the Peter Snowden trained pair of Helmet and Sepoy also set to race.

Helmet will run in the 1900 metre 2012 UAE Derby and is currently paying $12.00 at bookmaker.com.au to take top honours in the event.

Last year’s Caulfield Guineas winning colt will have to turn around some disappointing 2012 form that saw him finish twelfth in the Australian Guineas and his task was made extra difficult this week when he received a wide barrier 14 draw.

Exciting colt Sepoy will contest the 2012 Golden Shaheen and will start as $4.00 second favourite in the 1200 metre sprint.

The main rival for last year’s Golden Slipper winner will be Singapore horse Rocket Man ($3.40) who will be out to defend his crown after taking victory in the same race last year.

Another Australian horse set to run in Dubai tonight is six-year-old mare Ortensia who will contest the 1000 metre 2012 Al Quoz Sprint.

The markets are now open for the huge night of racing in Dubai so head to bookmaker.com.au to back your winner.
