Darby Munro Stakes 2012 – Satin Shoes Heads Nominations

A total of 21 horses have been nominated to fill the 18 available places in the Listed 2012 Darby Munro Stakes which will run as part of a bumper Rosehill Guineas Day card this Saturday.

The $100,000 race for three-year-old horses will be run over 1200 metres and one of the top nominations is Clarry Conners trained Satin Shoes.

Satin Shoes

Satin Shoes has been nominated to run in the 2012 Darby Munro Stakes

A winner of five races from 14 starts, the talented filly is coming off a runner-up finish in the Group 2 Centrebet Classic at Warwick Farm.

Trained by high profile Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse, Hallowell Belle has signalled plenty of potential against quality opposition in Group level races.

The filly backed up a third-place effort behind Sea Siren and Streama in the Light Fingers Stakes to again finish third in the Group 2 Surround Stakes at Warwick Farm on March 10.

Champion trainer Bart Cummings will see his horse Do You Think return from a spell after last running in the Crowley Stakes at Randwick in October.

The colt has only had seven starts to date but has shown promise by recording two victories including last year’s Group 3 Schweppervescence.

Altar and Aerobatics will represent well-known Sydney trainer Peter Snowden in the Darby Munro and Aerobatics in particular has been impressive of late.

The Exceed And Excel filly began 2012 with a victory and a runner-up finish three-year-old races at Rosehill before finishing third behind Nobby Snip and Niagara in the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes at Randwick on March 17.

2011 Golden Slipper runner Altar has shown promise this year with two fourth-placings but is yet to rediscover the form that saw her win the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes this time last year.

Another horse included in nominations that would be familiar to the average weekend punter is African Pulse, who ran in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate and Newmarket Handicap earlier this year.
