Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Empress Rock has won the Group 2 Fillies Classic at Moonee Valley Racecourse tonight March 23, 2012, in impressive style.
The three-year-old filly won the race by three lengths ahead of Total Attraction, who finished second, and Our Miss Jones, who ran home for third.
It makes it back to back wins for Empress Rock, who won the Group 2 Kewney Stakes at Flemington on March 10, 2012.
Empress Rock has now won three of her six race starts and has earned more than $345,000 in prize money.
The Fastnet Rock filly has not finished outside the placings in any of her four race starts this campaign, with the young horse claiming second placing behind Glows in the Listed Typhoon Tracy Stakes in her second autumn start.
Trainer Bart Cummings’ Sydney representative Joe Agresta was thrilled with the race result.
“She’s a lovely filly,” Agresta said.
“She ran a cracker here at the valley last time she raced here and she was probably only about 80% fit.
“She relaxes so well, you can just put her anywhere you want her.”
Jockey Steven Arnold was aboard the Empress Rock for her 2012 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic win.
“She was a steer job tonight,” Arnold said.
“She’s got nice gate speed.
“From the two and a half she quickened up really well.
“She’s obviously a nice strong three-year-old filly and I’d say Bart might even step her up in trip now.
“She’s got a really nice future and it’s nice to be aboard her.”
