Small but Quality Field Named for 2012 Todman Stakes

Just seven horses were today named in the final field for the $300,000 Group 2 2012 Todman Stakes which will take place as part of a bumper day of racing at Rosehill this Saturday.

The race stands as a genuine Golden Slipper trial and while the field for the 1200 metre race is small, it is not short on quality.

Pierro

Silver Slipper winner Pierro will run in the 2012 Todman Stakes

At the top of the list of impressive colts and geldings is the Gai Waterhouse trained Pierro who is unbeaten from two starts.

A son of champion horse Lohnro, Pierro won the Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill on March 10 and currently sits as third favourite ($7.00) in the early bookmaker.com.au Golden Slipper Market.

Peter Snowden trained Epaulette should be the main competition for Pierro on Saturday after coming off a win in Canberra’s Black Opal Stakes on March 11.

He is the only other unbeaten horse in the race after winning on debut in December last year and backing it up with a first up victory in the Black Opal.

John O’Shea trained horse Shelford was scratched last weekend due to wet conditions and will get his chance to press his Golden Slipper claims on Saturday.

The Redoute’s Choice colt has only had one start to date where he finished second behind Golden Slipper hopeful Raceway in the Canonbury Stakes in late February.

Another O’Shea trained colt Faustus is set to run in Saturday’s Todman Stakes and he is a promising colt who finished second behind Epaulette in the Black Opal.

The More Than Ready colt is currently sitting equal with Epaulette in the bookmaker.com.au Golden Slipper market with both being offered at $17.00.

The other horses set to run in the 2012 Todman Stakes are the Gerald Ryan trained Amorino, John Thompson trained Trophies and Black Opal eighth-place getter Red Excitement.

The odds for all the Rosehill racing will be up shortly at the Races.com.au preferred boomaker – bookmaker.com.au.

With the best prices on all the racing action, it is little wonder bookmaker.com.au is the Races.com.au favourite.

The Australian owned bookmaker.com.au are currently rewarding new customers with a $300 bonus bet offer.
