Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Grahame Begg’s reigning Epsom Handicap winner Secret Admirer will lead out a class field of fillies and mares at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday having been installed as the 58kg topweight of the 2012 Coolmore Classic field.
A total of 14 hopefuls have been accepted for the $600,000 Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) this year, the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival classic to run as Rosehill Race 7 at 4:10pm (NSW time) on Saturday.
To wear the No. 1 saddlecloth from barrier six with Brenton Avdulla aboard is Secret Admirer, the smart daughter of Dubawi going into the race third-up for the season.
Last seen running fifth to Steps In Time in the Listed Wiggle Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on March 10 with 58kg, Secret Admirer is set to improve with the step up in distance on Saturday and is likely to open one of the top fancies in the Coolmore Classic odds at bookmaker.com.au.
Following Secret Admirer in the Coolmore Classic field and weights is then Peter Moody’s former Kiwi mare King’s Rose in barrier five with Luke Nolen to ride them at 57.5kg.
A Group 1 winner in their native New Zealand, Redoute’s Choice four-year-old King’s Rose has an outstanding mile record in Australia.
She is sure to relish the extra distance and facing a field of females only after she resumed with a first-up eighth beaten three lengths by Hay List, who races in the 2012 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night, in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 10.
Three other elite level winners also feature in the Coolmore Classic 2012 with the Guy Walter-trained Streama (55kg), Stuart Webb’s Yosei (55.5kg) who has three thoroughbred majors to her name and the Michael Kent-trained Absolutely drawn in barriers nine, 10 and 13 respectively.
Along with Secret Admirer, Streama is sure to start one of the short-priced hopes in the Coolmore Classic betting markets once released at our preferred bookie bookmaker.com.au.
Winner of the Flight Stakes over the Randwick mile in October, Streama also has winning form over the track and distance with her Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes triumph last September.
She has come back in excellent fashion beaten only a long-neck first-up in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) before bouncing back to take out the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) last start.
Streama’s last-start conqueror Steps In Time has also been accepted for the Coolmore Classic on Saturday, the John O’Shea-trained Danehill Dancer four-year-old drawing awkwardly in barrier 12.
Steps In Time is out for her fourth straight win on Saturday and while she races for just the nine time and sees the 1500-metres for the first time, has defeated many stars in her short career already.
Two starts back she got the better of multiple Group 1 performer Beaded in the Group 2 NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Classic (1200m) and in the Wiggle Stakes she put four and a half lengths on fellow Coolmore Classic rival Foxstar.
The other last-start winners engaged are the Chris Waller-trained Red Tracer (55.5kg) who claimed the Group 3 Mille Fox Stakes (1300m) on a Heavy (9) track at Rosehill on March 3 and Mossman five-year-old Ofcourseican (53.5kg) coming off a three length romp in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) to jump from gates eight and seven.
There are also six gallopers that get into the Coolmore Classic field this year on the 52kg minimum, a number of which have genuine claims including Wiggle Stakes runner-up Foxstar, O’shea’s other runner Alberton Park and Rob Heathcote’s in-form Queenslander Tomboy on the rails with Craig Williams to ride.

Markets on all the Rosehill races this weekend are due to open shortly at our No. 1 recommended online bookie bookmaker.com.au.
