International Field Nominated for 2012 Sky High Stakes

German horse Budai heads a 2012 Sky High Stakes list of nominations that includes 10 international horses.

The $100,000 Listed race will take place at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday and will be run over 1900 metres.

Trained by David Hayes, Budai has experienced plenty of overseas success but will looking to record his first win on Australian soil this weekend.

Hawk Island

Hawk Island is one of 10 international horses included in Sky High Stakes nominations

The six-year-old gelding last ran on March 11 in the Canberra Cup where he managed a respectable fourth.

New Zealand’s Beijing Boy has a decent record of eight wins from 28 starts but the seven-year-old will have to turn around some horrible recent form to take top honours on Saturday.

The Chris Waller trained gelding has not managed better than eighth in his three starts this year and his last win came in December 2010.

Another Chris Waller trained gelding nominated to run is Brayroan who is coming off a second-place effort in his last start at Warwick Farm on March 10.

Also from New Zealand, the promising five-year-old has five wins from 15 starts including one at the Sky High distance of 1900 metres.

King Diamond is one of the better local horses nominated to run but is coming off a disappointing ninth-place finish in the Canberra Cup.

The Peter Moody trained horse has five wins from 18 starts and is a proven stayer with three of those victories coming at distances of 1800 metres or more.

Irish stayer Hawk Island ran in last year’s Melbourne Cup and is one of the more experienced horses in the field.

The Chris Waller trained gelding has recorded 10 victories and 10 places from a huge 43 outings.

Other horses included in nominations for the 2012 Sky High Stakes are Single, Southern Skye and Fiumicino.
