Sunline Stakes 2012 Nominations – Moonee Valley Night Racing

This Friday night Melbourne’s Moonee Valley Racecourse will come alive hosting William Reid Stakes Night, one of the highlight races of which will be the 2012 Sunline Stakes.

Lady Lynette

Lady Lynette could be racing for the final time in the 2012 Sunline Stakes on Friday night

The mares-only, weight-for-age $200,000 Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) this year attracted 18 nominations, the top-rated of which is David & Scott Brunton’s Tassie galloper Lady Lynette.

Runner-up to Nakaaya in the Sunline Stakes 12 months ago, multiple Group performing seven-year-old Lady Lynette will be looking to go one better on Friday night and will also be out to improve on her sixth in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) last time out at Flemington on March 10.

With an excellent Moonee Valley record, including two wins from six starts at the track, Lady Lynette is sure to start one of the Sunline Stakes favourites at for what could turn out to be her swansong appearance.

Aaron Purcell’s Schweppervescence Trophy winner Spirit Song is also set to back-up in the Sunline Stakes 2012, one of four last start winners among the early entries.

The other mares that will be seeking successive wins should they accept for Saturday are the Anthony Freedman-trained Echuca Cup winner Zubbaya, Cranbourne mare Sensational Report who won over the Moonee Valley mile on March 12 and the Peter Snowden-trained Raspberries.

Four-year-old Lonhro mare Raspberries resumed at Flemington on March 3 with an impressive two and a half length win in the Group 3 PFD Food Services Stakes (1400m), a nice indication of more Group wins to come this prep.

Other noteworthy entries include John Gunning’s recent Mannerism Stakes winner Hi Belle, Wiggle Stakes runner-up Foxstar, Tale Of The Cat four-year-old Booklet coming off a third to Raspberries and Schweppervescence Trophy runner-up Marveen.

Stay tuned to to view the 2012 Sunline Stakes final field and barrier draw once announced.
