2012 Royal Randwick Tips – Randwick Guineas Day 2012

Royal Randwick Racecourse, Saturday March 17, 2012

Race 1 – 1:00pm Happy St Patricks Day Aspiration Quality (1600m)

  • Tip #3 Crafty Irna ($6.50) from #12 Brightest and #14 Sydney’s Destiny (bookmaker.com.au)

The Ron Quinton trained Crafty Irna is coming off an impressive second in the Millie Fox Stakes and we believe with experienced jockey Hugh Bowman in the saddle, the mare can go one better and score victory on Saturday. Brightest is also coming off a place at Rosehill and won’t be too far away on Saturday. Sydney’s Destiny has been in sensational form at lesser tracks and should push the top horses in her first run in Sydney.

Race 2 – 1:40pm Hyland Race Colours Skyline Stakes (1200m)

Golden Slipper chance Raceway is odds-on to get the bacon in the Skyline Stakes and for good reason. Read the Races.com.au Skyline Stakes betting and tips preview to find out why!

Race 3 – 2.20pm Les Johnson memorial Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m)

  • Tip #6 Flying Snitzel ($6.50) from #3 Kuchinskaya and #7 Shelford (bookmaker.com.au)

Flying Snitzel is fresh off a spell but showed plenty of promise before her break in December and we believe she has the talent to upset favourites Kuchinskaya and Shelford. Check out the reasoning behind our tips in the full Sweet Embrace Stakes tips and betting guide.

Race 4 – 3:00 pm Turnpoint Randwick City Stakes (2000m)

  • Tip #9 Permit ($5.50) from #3 Herculian Prince and #10 Maules Creek (bookmaker.com.au)

The Races.com.au team are backing an international quinella with British stayer Permit to just edge out New Zealand’s Herculian Prince. Maules Creek is our pick of the local horses, click here to find out why!

Race 5 – 3:40pm McGrath Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m)

To get the full run down of why Nobby Snip will be too good in the Eskimo Prince Stakes be sure to check our betting and tips preview. We also justify our reasoning as to why outsider Altar will finish in the top three!

Race 6 – 4:20pm Turnpoint Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m)

  • Tip #1 Manawanui ($3.00) from #17 Mosheen and #16 Moment of Change (bookmaker.com.au)

As the betting market suggests, the Royal Randwick Guineas is seemingly a battle of two stars in Manawanui and Mosheen. Races.com.au believe Manawanui will be too good for Mosheen who will have to repeat a remarkable Australian Guineas run from a terrible barrier. Peter Moody trained Doncaster hopeful Moment of Change is our pick to edge out Hobartville Stakes winner Wild and Proud for third. Read the Races.com.au form guide and betting preview to gain some insights into the prized Group 1 race.

Race 7 – 5:00pm Tab Sportsbet Wenona Girl Handicap (1200m)

  • Tip #3 Dystopia ($6.00) from #7 Alberton Park and #2 Curtana (bookmaker.com.au)

We think Dystopia’s form is too good heading in to the race fresh off a victory in the Triscay Stakes and is chasing her third straight win. New Zealand horse Alberton Park finished second in that Triscay Stakes race is looking likely to again be the bridesmaid on Saturday.

Race 8 – 5:40pm Jim Beam Handicap (1400m)

Short priced favourite Forfeiture deserves her position and should be too strong for the likes of New Zealand horse Revolt who is coming off a third-place effort at Rosehill on March 3. Chris Waller trained Velrosso is among the chances and is our pick to run third after impressing with a third-place finish in Rosehill’s Fireball Quality.
