Fireball Quality winner Nobby Snip is the horse to beat in the Listed 2012 Eskimo Prince Stakes which will take place over 1200 metres at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
The $3.60 favourite is chasing a third consecutive victory after winning the Fireball Quality on the back of a six and a half length victory in the Pony Express Holdings at Canterbury.
The Gai Waterhouse trained gelding has a successful early career record of four wins from six starts and will be ridden by regular Waterhouse jockey Tommy Berry from barrier two on Saturday.
Next back in the betting is Pampelonne ($7.00) who has one win and two second-place finishes from three starts but will have to overcome a shocking outside barrier draw (15) to take Eskimo Prince honours.
The only other horse currently sitting at under $10.00 is Niagara who is now paying $8.50.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse, the colt will be having his first hit out back following a spell and has drawn a favourable barrier four position for the first up run.
Outside the top three horses, there is a log jam with all but two horses coming in between $10.00 and $16.00 in the betting.
Didntcostalot ($10.00) is in reasonable form, with the Marc Conners trained horse having run second to Nobby Snip in the Fireball Quality.
The three-year-old colt has recorded three victories from five starts which signals potential for a promising career.
Some value can be found with up and coming filly Altar ($16.00) who is coming off respectable back-to-back fourth-place efforts in the Light Fingers Stakes and the Fireball Quality.
The Eskimo Prince Stakes stands as an important support event on an eight-race card at Royal Randwick that is highlighted by the Randwick Guineas.
The outside chance in the race is Ever The Same who is currently paying $26.00.
