In form gelding Luck San will be looking to continue his current blistering run by chalking up a third consecutive victory in the 2012 Trojan Hand Tools Night Sprint at Melbourne’s Moonee Valley Racecourse tomorrow night.
The four-year-old is a deserving $3.50 favourite to take out the 1200 metre Listed event after winning back to back races at Sandown and Moonee Valley respectively.
He will be aided by a favourable barrier six draw tomorrow night when ridden by regular jockey Dwayne Dunn.
Peter Moody trained Curtana ($4.20) is the Night Sprint second favourite but it is unknown if the mare will even run as she has also been named in the final field for Saturday’s Wenona Girl Handicap at Royal Randwick.
If she does run from her listed barrier three tomorrow, she will bring plenty of quality to the race having run in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate in late February.
The mare finished seventh in that race against a high quality 17-horse field and has five wins from 16 starts.
Next back in the betting is David Hayes trained horse Shock Value ($7.00) who will be ridden by experienced jockey Craig Williams from barrier four.
The six-year-old gelding has nine wins from 29 starts and is coming off a close second to Luck San in the Drain Man Premium Handicap at Moonee Valley on March 2.
Top weight Testa My Patience (60kg) provides some value for the punters at $11.00 in the gelding’s first race back following a spell.
The five-year-old has a respectable record of seven wins from 15 outings and has collected over $300,000 in prize money.
South Australian gelding Outlandish Lad ($17.00) is one of the outside horses in reasonable form, coming off a win last start in the Capital Transport Handicap at Morphetville.
Mark Kavanagh trained Valentine Miss is the only other horse under $10.00 ($8.50) while Larrys Never Late is the long shot outsider at $81.00.
