Field Released for 2012 Perth Stakes

Some of the best young colts and geldings in the West will be on show this Saturday with the 2012 Perth Stakes set to take place at Ascot Racecourse.

The $80,000 Listed event is an 1100 metre sprint and will feature some of Western Australia’s best two-year-old males including Luke’s Luck and Jestpatim.

The Trevor Andrews trained Luke’s Luck has recorded one victory from three career starts and is coming off a second-place effort in the Listed Supremacy Stakes at Ascot on March 3.

Jestpatim is fresh from a win, having won last start at Ascot in late February and the gelding has received a helpful barrier five draw for Saturday’s race.

One of the more experienced runners in the field is El Rijes who has had six outings. Of those though, the Darren McAuliffe trained horse has only tasted success on one occasion which came in his first start in December last year.

McAuliffe has another horse running with Express Service and the two time place getter will run from barrier three with Shaun O’Donnell in the saddle.

A total of 12 horses have been named in the final field for the 2012 Perth Stakes and of those four will be making their debut.

The untried horses who will get their first taste of racing are Detection, Dream Merger, Nothing Personal and Which What Who.

The Perth Stakes stands as one of four listed races set to take place in what will be an exciting day of racing action in Perth this Saturday.
