Final Field and Barrier Draw – 2012 Eskimo Prince Stakes

Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse will host the important Randwick Guineas Day this weekend and one of the key support acts to the Randwick Guineas is the Listed 2012 Eskimo Prince Stakes.

Run over a sprinter’s distance of 1200 metres, the final field was named today and it was not short of quality runners.

Among the quality is Fireball Quality winner Nobby Snip who is chasing a third consecutive victory.

Nobby Snip

Fireball Quality winner Nobby Snip will be among the front runners in the Eskimo Prince Stakes

The Gai Waterhouse trained gelding is in hot form, having preceded the Fireball Quality victory with a six and a half length win in the Pony Express Holdings for three-year-olds at Canterbury.

He will be ridden by regular Waterhouse jockey Tommy Berry when he comes from the second barrier on Saturday afternoon.

The nominated top weight (59kg) is the Kris Lees trained Uate who is coming off a spell and will be looking to get back to his earlier career form where he recorded three consecutive victories and a runner up effort in the Group 1 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes.

Since those successful first four starts, the three-year-old has not been able to manage better than sixth place in three races.

Didntcostalot will run from the handy barrier position of five and the Marc Conners trained horse is in reasonable form having finished second in the Fireball Quality at Rosehill.

The colt has a decent record having scored three career victories from five starts including one over the Eskimo Prince distance of 1200 metres.

Promising filly Altar also ran in the Fireball quality where she finished a respectable fourth which was preceded by a fourth-place finish in Warwick Farm’s Light Fingers Stakes.

Also included in the final field which was named today are Mahisara, Charm’s Honour and Aerobatics.
