St Albans Stakes 2012 – Nominations Released

Melbourne’s Moonee Valley Racecourse will host a feature evening of racing this Friday which includes the 2012 St Albans Stakes.

The $100,000 race will be run over 1200 metres and nominations have now been released for the Listed event.

Of the horses included in nominations for the two-year-olds race, colt Bush Aviator is the most prolific, having run in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on February 25.

The Golden Slipper hopeful finished tenth in the Blue Diamond but won his only other start in the Elwick two-year-old Stakes at Hobart in early February.

The Jim Conlan trained Rhandara is another highly rated horse included in the St Albans Stakes nominations and the filly is coming off a fourth-place finish last start in the Streets Ice Cream Stakes at Flemington.

She finished fourth in her only other ever start in the Emirates Airline Plate at Flemington last November.

Imprimis also ran in the Streets Ice Cream Stakes and the Mick Cerchi trained filly finished third in that race.

First up winner Erghaam has been nominated after the colt took victory in Morphetville’s Veolia Handicap on March 3.

Mareeza is another first up winner included in nominations following the Peter Moody trained filly’s win in the Yalumba Rare and Fine Plate at Bendigo with Luke Nolen in the saddle.

Another Moody trained horse included in nominations is Fastnet Rock colt Hvasstan who will be making his debut if he runs.

Other horses nominated to run in the 2012 St Albans Stakes nominations include Extreme Impact, Underestimation and Live in Doubt.
