Streama Posts Surround Stakes 2012 Win – Warwick Farm Results

Streama has survived a gutsy challenge by Sea Siren to win the Group 2 Surround Stakes at Warwick Farm today March 10, 2012.

The Stratum filly made up for her last start when beaten by the talented Sea Siren in the Group 2 Lightning Stakes by turning the tables in today’s Surround Stakes.

Streama has now won five of her ten race starts and earned more than $700,000 in prize money.

Trainer Guy Walter was pleased Streama was able to edge out Sea Siren in her second autumn start.

“She really lengthened when Hughey (Bowman) asked her too,” Walter said.

“She’s got a real will to win like all the good ones.

“I’ve always said she’s a very adaptable filly.”

Streama will now possibly go on to run in the Coolmore Classic at Rosehill on March 24, 2012.

“The Coolmore maybe, she’s nominated for the Doncaster and we’ll pay the first acceptance,” Walter said.

“We’ll just see how she goes, I’ll even nominate her in the Oaks, I wouldn’t rule that out.”

Jockey Hugh Bowman was full of praise for Streama after her Surround Stakes 2012 win.

“She’s a top filly and she showed that last preparation,” Bowman said.

“I thought she was dominant today.

“I was surprised how well Sea Siren stuck it to me.

“I must admit for a few fleeting stride I was concerned.”
