Snitzerland Wins 2012 Breeders Stakes – Flemington Race 1 Results

Snitzerland wins the 2012 Breeders Stakes at Flemington

Snitzerland has again demonstrated her class while winning today’s 2012 Breeders Stakes at Flemington Racecourse.

The Snitzel filly won the Group 3 Breeders Stakes by almost two and a half lengths ahead of her closest rival, with Extreme Impact finishing second and Coin passing the post in third.

It was the second win form three career starts for Snitzerland, who is going on towards the $3.5 million Golden Slipper on April 7, 2012.

Trainer Gerald Ryan was encouraged by today’s performance in the 2012 Breeders Stakes.

“She’s got it all,” Ryan said.

“She’s got good gate speed.

“She’s got terrific acceleration.

“(We’ve just got to try and hold it together now for another month.”

The trainer has always held a high opinion of the filly, believing she is the best of all the two-year-olds in his stable.

“When she beats older horses on the track you know you’ve got a good one,” he said.

“She’s been number one right from the word go”

Jockey Corey Brown was aboard Snitzerland for today’s 2012 Breeders Classic win.

“She had to do that today to go back to Sydney,” Brown said.

“She’s still got plenty of upside and that’s what I like about her.”

Owner Neil Werrett was surprised Snitzerland paid as much as $2.80 at

“I just thought that when the betting came up that she’d lost a leg,” Werrett said.

Snitzerland will now go on to the 2012 Reisling Stakes in two weeks’ time.

Werrett also mentioned that a decision on where to next run Black Caviar had not yet been made.

“All I can say is that it’s up to Peter (Moody), but I don’t think we want to go to an easy race.

“It would have to be a race that means something.”
