Flemington Super Saturday 2012 – Scratchings

A bumper day of racing is soon to begin at the famous Flemington Race Course, with the first race scheduled to jump at 12.08pm (AEDT).

The two feature races of the day, the 2012 Newmarket Handicap and the 2012 Australian Cup, have each have lost a key runner.

Bel Sprinter has been scratched from the 2012 Newmarket Handicap

Australian Cup favourite Lucas Cranach was yesterday ruled out while talented gelding Bel Sprinter was this morning scratched from the Newmarket following a superficial wound to his offside cannon bone which occurred last Sunday when he lashed out in the paddock.

The bookmaker.com.au equal second favourite looked to be on track to start in the nation’s most prestigious sprint when he passed a Racing Victoria vet check on Tuesday, but trainer Jason Warren said the talented four-year-old pulled up sore this morning.

With the action at Flemington soon to kick off with the 2012 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes, make sure you visit bookmaker.com.au to get your bets on.
