2012 Wiggle Stakes – Steps in Time Wins Easy

Steps in Time romped home to win the 2012 Wiggle Stakes by four lengths in the last race of the day at Warwick Farm today.

The race looked to be a tale of two horses before the jump, with Secret Admirer (2.70) and Steps in Time ($3.20) the two obvious favourites at bookmaker.com.au.

Following nine weather related scratchings, the $100,000 Listed event got underway with just six horses in the gates but Doncaster hopeful Secret Admirer never came close despite her pre-race favouritism in the mares only event.

Steps in Time set the pace early and was always amongst the leaders before really stepping it up with 300 metres to go.

There was no stopping the John O’Shea trained horse who, with Jim Cassidy in the saddle, seemed to gain pace down the final straight and easily kick clear of her rivals.

Foxstar finished runner up to Steps in Time while Joseph Pride trained Ladys Angel took third place honours.

It was the third consecutive victory for Steps in Time who was coming off a win in the NSW Throughbred Breeders Stakes.

The four-year-old now has five wins from eight outings, showing signs she can be a very successful horse.
