The 2012 Wiggle Stakes is not quite a forgone conclusion but it will take a sensational effort to upset race favourite Secret Admirer at Warwick Farm this Saturday.
Run over 1400 metres, the Wiggle Stakes is a $100,000 Listed mares-only event and the Graheme Begg trained horse is currently a short $2.30 to take top billings.
The four-year-old is fresh off a third-place finish in the Southern Cross Stakes and will have regular jockey Brenton Advulla in the saddle when she runs from barrier eight on Saturday.
With two Group One victories and over $800,000 in prize money to her name, the classy mare will face toughest resistance from Steps in Time ($5.50).
The John O’Shea trained horse is chasing three wins in a row this Saturday with her last start the NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Classic on February 18.
She is a very promising mare, having already recorded four wins from seven starts.
Outside the top two it is a more open field in the 2012 Wiggle Stakes but the Races.com.au think tank likes the look of the other John O’Shea trained mare in the field, Alberton Park ($8.00).
The New Zealand five-year-old has six wins from 31 starts and is coming off a second-place effort in the Triscay Stakes at Rosehill two weeks ago.
Not to be ignored is Joseph Pride trained five-year-old Ladys Angel ($7.00) who has five wins from 14 starts but finished fifth in her first up effort in the NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes.
The Wiggle Stakes will round off the 2012 Chipping Norton Stakes Day as the last race of the day at Warwick Farm and is set to jump at 5.45pm (AEDT).
