Somepin Anypin Tough to Beat – Liverpool City Cup 2012 Tips

Livepool City Cup 2012 favourite Somepin Anypin looks likely to record a first up victory when the gelding returns to the track at Warwick Farm this Saturday.

There is plenty to strive for in the $125,000 event, with the winning horse receiving exemption from the 2012 Doncaster Mile ballot.

Somepin Anypin currently sits at $2.50 at and looks a likely top honours candidate in his first trip back to the track.

Trained by Gary Portelli, Somepin Anypin won the Hawkesbury Cup by an astonishing four lengths before he was spelled last November.

The exciting four-year-old boasts an impressive resume that includes six wins from 12 starts.

Portelli said earlier this week that the gelding will need to prove if he is Doncaster material in either his first or second start.

“I think he’ll have to win to qualify for the Doncaster,” he said.

“I’ve got him as good as I can without racing.”

Neeson is second favourite in the betting at $4.20 but the team likes $7.00 chance Ofcourseican to follow the race favourite past the post.

Ofcourseican will have to step up in class this weekend but is a quality mare who finished third in the Triscay Stakes on February 25.

She has six wins from 24 starts and will come from barrier three with Kathy O’Hara in the saddle on Saturday.

Joseph Pride trained Neeson is also in good form and should not be ignored, with the gelding coming off a second-place effort in the Southern Cross Stakes following a spell.

The five-year-old also has a decent career record having chalked up eight career victories from 24 starts but will have to carry the top weight of 58.5kg which is three kilograms more than Somepin Anypin. market mover More Strawberries is also a chance this Saturday and provides some value for the punters at $8.50.

Trained by the prolific Gai Waterhouse, the four-year-old mare is coming off a spell and will be ridden by Peter Robl from barrier six.

The 2012 Liverpool City Cup will follow the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes as race seven on the eight-race card at Warwick Farm.

The race is set to jump at 5.05pm (AEDT).
