Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Secret Admirer will start as a strong $2.50 favourite in the 2012 Listed Wiggle Stakes in what serves as an important race on the Doncaster hopeful’s Autumn program.
The Graheme Begg trained four-year-old is currently $3.50 clear of her next closest rival Steps in Time ($6.00) for the mares-only 1400 metre race.
Secret Admirer has only ever had one jockey and it will again be Brenton Advulla in charge when she runs out of barrier eight on Saturday.
Advulla expects her to be much improved on her first up effort, in which she finished third in the Southern Cross Stakes.
“It’s 1400 metres second-up, she’ll improve off what she did the other day but she’s still got further improvement left,” he said.
“As long as she is hitting the line strongly we’ll be happy again.”
The second favourite Steps in Time is chasing a third consecutive victory with her last start coming in the NSW Throughbred Breeders Classic on February 18.
The experienced Jim Cassidy rode her to both of her last wins and he will again be in the saddle in the Wiggle this Saturday.
New Zealand five-year-old Alberton Park is the next best in the betting at $8.00 and she is in decent form coming off a second-place finish in the Triscay Stakes on February 25.
That was preceded by a fourth-placing in the NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes and the John O’Shea trained horse has six wins from 31 starts.
Ladys Angel finished one spot behind Alberton Park in the NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes and will start just behind her in the betting for the Wiggle at $9.00.
The Joseph Pride trained five-year-old has scored five victories from 14 starts and collected over $250,000 in prize money.
Peter Snowden trained Shannara ($11.00) will be running first up but the five-year-old is a decent horse with four wins from 16 outings.
She finished first in Ladies Day Cup at Hawkesbury prior to the spell and will come from barrier six on Saturday.
Other horses set to run in the $100,000 Wiggle Stakes include Foxstar ($15.00), Cabernet ($15.00), Little Surfer Girl ($19.00) and Quidnunc ($21.00).
Moorings Capital is the massive outsider, currently paying $201.00.
