Chipping Norton Stakes Odds 2012

The latest markets for the 2012 Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm this Saturday have now been released at our preferred online bookmaker, Greg Eurell’s Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker unsurprisingly opening at the top of the odds.

Pinker Pinker

Pinker Pinker is one of seven Group 1 winners lining up in the 2012 Chipping Norton Stakes this Saturday

The Australian-owned and trusted are offering the most generous horse racing odds on Pinker Pinker the team can find for the smart mare to take out the $350,000 Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m), $2.75.

There are a few things working against Pinker Pinker for Saturday’s clash including the 20-year drought for Victorian-trained horses in the race, the fact only one other runner has backed up from a Cox Plate victory to win the Chipping Norton in the same season and that only one Chipping Norton Stakes winner in the past 25 years was a mare.

Still, Eurell believes he has the definite horse to beat and with the likely Heavy-rated Warwick Farm track Pinker Pinker’s outside Chipping Norton Stakes barrier draw will likely be a help not a hindrance.

The 2012 Chipping Norton Stakes field is down to eight starters following the early withdrawal of the Peter Moody-trained Mr Make Believe, and of Pinker Pinker’s seven remaining rivals, six of which are Group 1 winners, the next shortest-priced is Shoot Out.

One of three hopefuls for premier Sydney horseman Chris Waller, former Queensland galloper Shoot Out has been in good form this season most recently running a second-up second to Rain Affair in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m).

Shoot Out has been to the mile three times previously including for their strong win in the 2010 Randwick Guineas and pays $3.30 through to upset Pinker Pinker and post career win number eight.

Occupying the third line of Chipping Norton Stakes betting at is then Shoot Out’s veteran eight-year-old stablemate Danleigh at a quote of $5.50.

Coming off a third in the Apollo, Danleigh is the defending Chipping Norton Stakes champ having beaten home Centennial Park and Sacred Choice in the event 12 months ago.

Their chances of going back-to-back look to be hampered by the wet weather, however they still look good for a top three place bet.

Two other hopefuls are under $10 in the Warwick Farm Race 6 odds at with Joe Pride’s Doncaster Mile winner and known mudlark Sacred Choice, and the John Thompson-trained Trusting who won the Group 2 Chelmsfod Stakes at the track and distance last September, each paying $6.50 to add the Chipping Norton 2012 trophy to their name.

Rounding out the Chipping Norton Stakes field and markets are then Gai Waterhouse’s Apollo Stakes fourth placegetter Herculian Prince ($15 who will be giving apprentice hoop Adam Hyeronimus his first Group 1 ride, Waller’s popular galloper Rangirangdoo ($18 who ran a close second to Theseo in the 2010 Chipping Norton and $61 outsider Gathering.
