Wiggle Stakes 2012 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

Steps in Time will be gunning for her third consecutive victory in the 2012 Wiggle Stakes which will be held at Warwick Farm this Saturday.

The final field for the 1400 metre Listed even was named today and trainer John O’Shea will be hoping the four-year-old can continue her good form in the mares-only event.

She followed up a first up win at Canterbury in late January with victory in the NSW Throughbred Breeders Classic at Warwick Farm on February 18.

Steps in Time has drawn a wide barrier (12) but should still be among the front runners and has experienced jockey Jim Cassidy in the saddle.

Steps In Time

Steps In Time will be aiming for three wins in a row in Saturday's Wiggle Stakes

Secret Admirer has drawn barrier eight and the four-year-old is coming off a third-place effort in the Mad Mex Southern Cross Stakes following a spell.

Gai Waterhouse trained Once Were Wild has drawn the inside barrier and will be ridden by Tommy Berry.

The five-year-old has recorded seven wins from 21 starts and collected over $460,000 in prize money.

Shannara, trained by Peter Snowden, is coming off a spell and will be ridden by Joshua Parr out of barrier six on Saturday.

Prior to her spell, the five-year-old scored victory in her last start at Hawkesbury.

Seventeen horses were named in the final field but Gai Waterhouse has withdrawn More Strawberries, preferring to race the four-year-old in the Liverpool City Cup, meaning there are 16 named starters.

Other horses included in the 2012 Wiggle Stakes field are Little Surfer Girl, Ladys Angel, Fox Star and Gopana.
