Secret Admirer Heads 2012 Wiggle Stakes Nominations

Two time Group 1 winner Secret Admirer heads the nominations for the 2012 Wiggle Stakes which will take place at Warwick Farm this Saturday.

The Grahame Begg trained former Coolmore Flight Stakes winner has scored three victories from 11 starts on her way to more than $840,000 in prize money.

The Wiggle Stakes is a mares-only $100,000 Listed event and is run over 1400 metres.

Secret Admirer has been nominated for the 2012 Wiggle Stakes

A number of the horses nominated for the Wiggle Stakes are also nominated for the Liverpool City Cup, so it will be interesting to see who is in the final field when it is released tomorrow.

One of those dual nominated is Gregory Hickman trained Mirjulisa Lass. But the four-year-old may not run at all with Hickman set to withdraw her if the track is wet on Saturday.

Yosei is another horse nominated for both races and the Stuart Webb trained four-year-old is likely to be among the front runners if named in the final field.

She has won four races from 20 trips to the track which includes two Group 1 victories. Of those victories, two have come over the Wiggle Stakes distance of 1400 metres.

Leading trainer Gai Waterhouse has two horses in the nominations list with Once Were Wild and More Strawberries.

Once Were Wild is a former AJC Oaks winner but the five-year-old has not won since April last year when she took victory in the Group 2 Schweppes Chairman’s Handicap.

Fresh off a win in the NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Classic on February 19, Steps in Time is another decent mare nominated for the Wiggle Stakes.

Trained by John O’Shea, the four-year-old has four wins from seven starts including one over 1400 metres.

Other horses included in the 2012 Wiggles Stakes nominations include Miss Keepsake, Do Ra Mi, Little Surfer Girl and Ladys Angel.
