Happy Angel has firmed as favourite in the Bob Hoysted 2012 Handicap moving in from $4.20 to $4.00 for the 1000 metre sprint at Flemington tomorrow.
The $100,000 Listed race (Race 7 – 4:40 pm VIC time) will follow the prized Australian Guineas and the sprint specialist has earned favouritism in the event on the back of two consecutive victories.
Trained by Mark Kavanagh, the mare has six victories from 28 starts and four of those have come over the 1000 metre Bob Hoysted distance.
There are some good sprinters in the field and Master Harry ($5.50) is one to watch, having chalked up two victories over 1000 metres.
It will be interesting to see whether the Peter Moody trained horse can reverse a horrid recent run. The four-year-old has returned back end finishes in its last four starts.
Second favourite We’re Gonna Rock, another Mark Kavanagh trained horse, has moved in from $5.00 to $4.80 and has also scored two 1000 metre wins.
One value bet may be with the top weight Secret Flyer ($10.00), an experienced gelding with eight victories to its name including four over the Bob Hoysted sprint distance.
The obvious question mark hovering over the Mark Young trained horse is whether or not he can carry the 60kg.
Value is also provided by Eight Bills ($9.00), who has six 1000 metres victories to his name and finished second in his last start in the Bayside Jeep Hareeba Stakes.
Some of the other outside chances for the 2012 Bob Hoysted Handicap include Queen Delight ($11.00), Arinos ($12.00) and Gran Sasso ($12.00).
It is without doubt an exciting day of racing tomorrow at Flemington, highlighted by the Australian Guineas, PFD Food Services Stakes, the Roy Higgins Quality and the Bob Hoysted Handicap.
