2012 Bob Hoysted Handicap – No Clear Favourite

Any one of a number horses are a chance to take out the 2012 Bob Hoysted Handicap at Flemington this Saturday if the odds are anything to go by.

Luxbet is showing that there is no far-and-away favourite with Happy Angel ($4.20), Master Harry ($4.40) and We’re Gonna Rock ($5.00) the top three picks.

The 1000 metre Bob Hoystead Handicap is a Listed event and will run as the seventh race (4:40pm VIC time) on the Flemington card this Saturday.

Happy Angel deserves to be amongst the top group of horses having won six of 28 starts including victories in her last two outings.

A sprint specialist, the Mark Kavanagh trained mare has recorded four of her six victories over 1000 metres.

Master Harry is also at home over the distance having recorded two of its three victories in 1000 metre events.

Trainer Peter Moody will be hoping his horse can turn around an awful run of form to take top prize in the $100,000 race. The four-year-old has returned back field finishes in its last four races.

Mark Kavanagh trained We’re Gonna Rock finished eigth in its last start but is another with success over 1000 metres, having chalked up two wins at the distance.

Further highlighting the closeness of the 2012 Bob Hoysted Handicap is the fact that only one of ten horses is paying over $14.00 (Falco Star $26.00).

Top weight Secret Flyer ($8.00) is carrying 60kg but should not be written off in what is shaping up to be an extremely tight contest.

The gelding struggled two weeks ago in his first race back after a lengthy spell but will be better for the run and has a decent record to his name with 11 victories and over $500,000 in prize takings.

Another horse providing some value is six-year-old gelding Eight Bills who is currently paying $8.50 on Luxbet.

The Gary Portelli trained horse has an impressive portofolio having won seven of 22 starts with six of those coming over the Bob Hoysted distance of 1000 metres.

Also included in the 2012 Bob Hoysted Handicap are Queen Delight ($10.00), Panipique ($13.00) and Arinos ($14.00).
