Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2012 Parramatta Cup kicks off the Autumn series of staying events in NSW and the final field and barriers have been released for the Listed event.
The 2000 metre race serves as an important one with the leading horses set to stay on in Sydney to contest the metropolitan series.
Gai Waterhouse trained Kontiki Park may have finished seventh in its last start in the Australia Day Cup but the six-year-old is a quality gelding and should be among the front runners on Saturday.
Prior to the Australia Day Cup race, success came thick and fast for the gelding as he placed second and then had two consecutive wins in his three previous hit outs. This included victory at Doomben in the Bernborough Handicap.
New Zealand’s Kontiki Park is one of five international horses in the race, with Irish gelding Stand to Gain another of the hopefuls.
Trained by Chris Waller, the six-year-old will start from gate four and will be ridden by the experienced Hugh Bowman.
Another Kiwi horse in the mix is Rainbow Styling, a seven-year-old gelding with eight victories to his name.
The Michael Wayne and John Hawkes trained horse won its second last start over a decent 1800 metres in the Catanach’s Jewewllers Handicap at Caufield in late January.
Bid Spotter is one of the local chances, a six-year-old gelding that has collected over $450,000 in prize money.
Another of the local hopes is four-year-old Sienna Red who will start from Barrier eight.
