Lord Reims Stakes 2012 Nominations Released

Nominations for the 2012 Lord  Reims Stakes have been released.

The Group 3 race will take place at Morphetville over 2600 metres this Saturday, March 3.

There is $115,000 in prize money up for grabs with the race serving as a lead in to the Adelaide Cup which will be held on March 12.

The distance should suit the Mick Whittle trained He’s Hot to Trot  with the five-year-old winning its last start at the distance in mid January.

He’s Hot to Trot is coming off a third placed effort in last week’s Woodpend Projects Handicap.

The gelding will face stiff competition from a decent field at Morhpetville on Saturday with Riyala another quality gelding nominated.

Trained by Lloyd Kennewell, the four-year-old has six wins from 22 starts.

One of those wins came in his last start on February 18, when he scored victory in the Holdfast Insurance Birthday Cup over 2028 metres at Morphetville.

Another of Riyala’s recent victories came over a similar distance to the Lord Reims with the gelding winning the LF Sign Group Handicap over 2500 metres late last year.

Beautiful Soul is another in the nominations list with plenty of promise, having won four of 20 starts including victory in its second last start in the Camms Budget Management Handicap on February 7.

Other nominated horses to watch include New Zealand’s Danahere and Fieldmaster as well as local gelding Sophistication.
