Samaready wins the 2012 Blue Diamond Stakes

Samaready has confirmed her class by winning the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakesat Caulfield Racecourse today February 25, 2012.

The talented two-year-old is now unbeaten over three starts and has added an impressive $600,000 to her current prize money of almost $120,000.

Samaready won her first start in a $70,000 handicap at Flemington last December before winning the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude on February 11.

“It’s mission accomplished isn’t it?” trainer Mick Price said after the race.

“She’s just one of those fillies that just had a perfect prep.

“I looked at her in the mounting yard and thought did I do enough with her?.

“(But jockey Craig Newitt) got out at the right time and he was on the right horse.”

Price is now looking towards the $3.5 million Golden Slipper on April 7, 2012, at Rosehill Racecourse.

“She’ll pull up fantastic, I know it’s a hot day, but she’s still got one to come,” he said.

Craig Newitt was visibly elated following his 2012 Blue Diamond Stakes win aboard Samaready.

“(This is) one of the greatest thrills I’ve had in racing,” Newitt said.

“Mick and his staff have done a super job to get her here.

“He’s always been the one that’s willing to give me a go even though I’ve made a few mistakes.”

Newitt knew he was the winner coming into the final turn for home in today’s 2012 Blue Diamond Stakes.

“She did the traditional pin the ears back and stretch the neck,” he said of her performance down the straight.
