Betting has been released for the Group 1 Futurity Stakes, which is set to take place at Caulfield racecourse this Saturday February 25, 2012.
King Mufhasais presently favourite to win the 2012 Futurity Stakes at Luxbet and is paying odds of $2.70.
The Pentire gelding will be back in Australia for the first time since he won the Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield in October last year.
King Mufhasa finished second in his first-up start in New Zealand on February 11, 2012, in the Group 1 Waikato Draught Sprint.
The seven-year-old has won 17 of his 48 race starts and has earned more than $2.5 million in prize money.
Last year’s Cox Plate winner, Pinker Pinker, is on the second line of betting for the 2012 Futurity Stakes.
The four-year-old mare will be first-up in the 2012 Futurity Stakes and is paying odds of $3.80 at Luxbet.
The Reset mare has won six of her 16 race starts and has earned close to $2.5 million in prize money.
Third favourite in the 2012 Futurity Stakes betting is currently Playing God, who is paying $5.50 at Luxbet.
Trainer Neville Parnham is confident Playing God will handle the step up in distance from his first-up start in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes, where he finished third behind Black Caviar.
“Playing God is such an athletic horse that it doesn’t bother me going from 1400m to 2000m,” Parnham said.
“He is a stallion and that race is a good Group 1 for him to be able to win.
“He has absolutely thrived and is the best he has ever been when travelling away (from WA).”
Playing God has won seven of his 23 race starts, including the last two Group 1 Kingstown Town Stakes, and has earned more than $1.35 million in prize money.
