Chris Waller Stable Prominent In Apollo Stakes 2012 Final Field

Chris Waller has a total of four runners in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes final field and barrier draw, with the race due to run at Rosehill Racecourse this Saturday February 25, 2012.

Amongst his four runners is Rangirangdoo, who finished last in the Group 1 Expressway Stakes last start.

RangirangdooRangirangdoo is part of the 2012 Apollo Stakes final field and barrier draw.

However, Waller appears confident the Pentire gelding can turn his form around is this weekend’s Apollo Stakes field.

Rangirangdoo, who has been injury prone in the past, has won ten of his 22 race starts and earned more than $2 million in prize money.

The seven-year-old gelding has drawn barrier 11 for the 2012 Apollo Stakes and will carry 59 kilograms under the weight-for-age conditions.

Chris Waller will also line up Shoot Out, Danleigh and Hawk Island in the 2012 Apollo Stakes.

Amongst the 2012 Apollo Stakes final field is Joseph Pride’s Rain Affair, who will be looking to claim his ninth straight win in the race.

Rain Affair, who has won nine of his ten race starts, won the Group 2 Expressway Stakes by four lengths over 1,200 metres last start.

Pride is eager to see how the Commands gelding performs over the  Apollo Stakes’ 1,400 metre distance.

“He’s probably going to meet many of the horses he beat in the Expressway Stakes, so we are going to get a very good guide as to how he runs the trip,” Pride said.

“He was pretty good settling in front when he won the Expressway and he generally gets better as his preparation goes on.”

Rain Affair has drawn barrier 12 for the 2012 Apollo Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Corey Brown.

Sacred Choice, Startsmeup and Tullamore are also included in the 2012 Apollo Stakes final field and barrier draw.
