Black Caviar is amongst the nominations and weights for the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday February 25, 2012.
The five-year-old is one of 17 horses nominated for the race, which is worth $500,000 in prize money.
Black Caviar is an uncertain starter in the 2012 Futurity Stakes after having a hard run in the Lightning Stakes at Flemington last Saturday.
The Bel Esprit mare won her 19th race start in the Lightning Stakes, however, was forced to extend herself when a challenge was put out by the returning Hay List.
Black Caviar has been given the number one ballot position for the 2012 Futurity Stakes and has been allocated 57 kilograms in the weight-for-age race.
“I looked at the clock after her Lightning win and thought, ‘She’s done enough’, but as she has matured she has developed these unbelievable recuperative powers,” trainer Peter Moody said.
“She’s pulled up extremely well, better than I imagined.
“I’d love to see her go to her home track (Caulfield) on Saturday, but it will only be if it’s in her best interest.”
Whether she runs or not in this weekend’s 2012 Futurity Stakes, Black Caviar is booked on a plane to Dubai on March 9.
The super mare is expected to contest the Golden Shaheen on March 31, 2012, before heading to Ascot to run in both the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Ascot and the July Cup at Newmarket in England.
Centennial Park, King Mufhasa, Playing God and Pinker Pinker are also amongst the 2012 Futurity Stakes nominations.
