Warwick Farm Results – Hot Snitzel Is 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes Winner

Hot Snitzel and Manawanui

Hot Snitzel holds off Manawanui to win the Royal Sovereign Stakes

Hot Snitzel has held off a fast finishing Manawanui to win the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakesat Warwick Farm today February 18, 2012.

The three-year-old gelding won the race by a nose ahead of Manawanui, who finished an eye catching second, and Moment Of Change, who ran home for third.

Trainer Gerald Ryan was relieved to have scored a win in today’s 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes, with Golden Rose winner Manawanui being in the field.

“He is a good honest little horse,” Ryan said.

“Hughie (Bowman) said he trialled sensationally the other day.

“He’s come up bigger and stronger and we’ll just keep placing him and he’ll keep running well.

“He stuck his head out and had a go.

“(I) don’t know where he’ll go next, I haven’t thought of anywhere beyond today.”

Jockey Hugh Bowman had a big opinion of Hot Snitzel following the race.

“This horse, he just fights,” he said.

“To get a decent win here means a lot to me and of course the connections.

“He won well first-up last prep under firm conditions and did it again today.”

Hot Snitzel has now won five of his 12 race starts and has earned close to $600,000 in prize money.
