That's The One has upset more fancied rivals to win the CS Hayes Stakes at Flemington
That’s The One has added to the race day upsets at Flemington Racecourse today February 18, 2012, by winning the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes.
The three-year-old gelding finished second in the Listed Manfred Stakes last start behind Mosheen, who finished a shock second in the previous race.
Decircles finished second, while Instinction and Highly Recommended dead heated for third.
Odds on favourite Helmet couldn’t run on in the final straight and passed the post in fifth position.
That’s The One has won three of his five race starts and earned more than $170,000 in prize money.
Trainer Cindy Alderson was impressed with That’s The One’s 2012 CS Hayes Stakes effort.
“He took it to them and he hung on well at the end,” Alderson said.
The trainer believes the addition of winkers to That’s The One’s gear may have made the difference.
“Both times he’s raced at Caulfield he hasn’t looked comfortable around that corner,” she said.
Alderson is hopeful That’s The One can continue his impressive form as he makes his way towards the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas this autumn.
“I hope so, and hope Craig (Williams) sticks with him as well,” the trainer said.
Craig Williams was full of praise for That’s The One’s efforts in the 2012 CS Hayes Stakes.
“You can see a much… finer product today,” Williams said.
“The way the race was ran just showed how solid the horse can be.”
The jockey is confident the Snippetson gelding will continue to improve.
“(He) still did a little bit wrong on the turn,” Williams said.
“He’s always shown great ability, also he loves Flemington.
“(And) you’ve seen his performance on the rain affected tracks.”
